Welcome To The Corte Madera Dogs Website!

"Dogs should be allowed as much liberty as they can responsibly handle. The greatest gift of training is that it increases the dog’s ability to handle liberty." - Chad Mackin

"Most of what people call aggression in dogs is really just an inappropriate response to fear and uncertainty. The way to address the problem is taking away the fear of the unknown, by making it known." - Dick Russel

"If you want the dog to stop fighting the leash, stop using the leash to fight the dog." - Chad Mackin

"You’re not done training the dog, until you can trust him at liberty." - Chad Mackin

This site has been created for responsible dog owners in and around Corte Madera. The hope is that we can avoid having the only voices heard by police and town officials regarding dogs be the negative voices of complaints. We'd like to create some greater advocacy for dog owners and their well-behaved dogs in and around Corte Madera with hopes that dogs and dog owners might be treated as individuals and given opportunities to prove their responsibility and earn freedoms (like being able to be off leash under certain circumstances), rather than treating all dogs as dangerous and all dog owners as irresponsible.

Perhaps we can share ideas, information, recommendations, used equipment, and stories here that are positive and helpful. As dog owners, we learn a lot of things of potential value to other dog owners and their dogs.

If you have any ideas or suggestions to share, please do so here

Please pardon the mess, we've just thrown this site together and it will take awhile to clean it up!

Thanks for visiting!
